The next Federer announces himself with a Tiger Woods-like juggling act

In strictly historical terms, Alexander Zverev is technically the next, next, next, next, next Roger Federer. The 18-year-old German is the latest to earn that silly mantle and we use it simply by way of introduction, never to use it again unless he, like, marries a girl named Mirka and has two sets of twins which he announces via Twitter emoji.

Anyway, the 18-year-old is the real deal and could be the answer to the longstanding question: "Who's going to be the next No. 1 after The Big Four?"

Sascha, as he's known, made the semis of Montpellier, the final of Rotterdam and has seen his ranking jump from No. 138 to No. 56 in the past year. But he saved perhaps his greatest feat for Tuesday.

During a medical timeout in his Marseille opener with Julien Benneteau, Zverev bounced the ball on the frame of his racquet 61 times, or about 59 more times I could when I just tried before getting in trouble with the wife for doing it indoors and knocking over a candlestick.

Despite the continued lack of style points in tennis scoring, Zverev still won the match over the French veteran, 7-6 (4), 7-5.
