Tennis legend Ken Rosewall, 77, was taken ill in Rome this morning and is recovering in a hospital. Rosewall, multiple Grand Slam winner, had arrived from Sydney with his wife Wilma to attend the annual Golden Racket dinner laid on by the Italian Tennis Federation to honor great players.

Guests, who included Nikki Pietrangeli, Manolo Santana and and Ilie Nastase, raised a glass to the little Australian while honoring the evening's other recipient, Monica Seles.

ATP tour manager Vittorio Selmi, who had visisted Rosewall in hospital, said, "Ken is feeling much better now but it was a bit of a shock."
