Francesca Schiavone beat Alize Cornet of France 6-4, 6-4 in the Strasbourg International final on Saturday to win her first title of the year and fifth of her career.
The 2010 French Open champion proved too strong for Cornet, improving her overall record against her to 8-1.
Cornet was playing in her first final since 2008 - the year she won her only WTA title in Budapest, Hungary.
Schiavone did not drop a set in the tournament, giving her a boost as she heads to Roland Garros, where she was runner-up last year.
