Rain interrupts Gastein Ladies again

Just three matches at the Gastein Ladies were completed before heavy rain interrupted play for a third straight day on Wednesday.

Eighth-seeded Johanna Larsson of Sweden defeated Jana Cepelova of Slovakia 6-4, 7-6 (1), while Americans Chichi Scholl and Jill Craybas also reached the second round.

Scholl routed Zuzana Ondraskova of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-0, and Craybas beat Nina Bratchikova of Russia 7-5, 6-3.

Third-seeded Ksenia Pervak of Kazakhstan was serving for the match at 3-6, 6-3, 6-5 against Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino of Spain when the rain forced them off the court.
