Yvonne Meusburger of Austria saved four match points before beating fifth-seeded Petra Martic of Croatia 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (5) in the rain-interrupted first round at the Gastein Ladies on Wednesday.

The 138th-ranked Meusburger has reached the quarterfinals every year since the event first took place in 2007.

Third-seeded Ksenia Pervak of Kazakhstan was serving for the match at 3-6, 6-3, 6-5 against Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino of Spain when the rain forced them off the court. When they returned hours later, Pervak lost her serve but took the tiebreaker 7-3.

Last year's finalist, Patricia Mayr-Achleitner, defeated Nicole Rottmann 6-2, 6-3 in an all-Austrian match to set up a clash against second-seeded Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium.
