Kim Clijsters returns to French Open 5 years later

Published May. 20, 2011 12:54 p.m. ET

Kim Clijsters is back at the French Open for the first time in five years, and says she feels ''like a little girl again.''

The 27-year-old Belgian is seeded second at Roland Garros after winning the last two Grand Slam titles, at the U.S. Open and Australian Open. Because of injuries and what turned out to be a temporary retirement, she hasn't played in Paris since reaching the 2006 semifinals.

Clijsters was the runner-up at the 2001 and 2003 French Opens.

Clay is her least-favorite surface. She finds it tough to move properly on the surface - and things are even more complicated right now because she injured her right ankle and little toe while dancing barefoot at her cousin's wedding last month.
