Indian Wells CEO Raymond Moore was on hand at the BNP Paribas Open to congratulate Victoria Azarenka for taking down Serena Williams in straight sets to win the women's title Saturday afternoon.

Before handing out the trophy to Williams, Moore expressed gratitude to Serena for coming back to Indian Wells after a 14-year absence: "Thank you for putting the bad controversy to bed."

Though Moore ignited his own controversy with his comments about the WTA earlier that day. The New York Times' Ben Rothenberg tweeted out Moore's remarks calling the Women's Tennis Association "lucky" because they "ride on the coattails of the men."
