Goran Prpic resigns as Croatian captain

The Croatian tennis federation says Goran Prpic has resigned as captain of the country's Davis Cup and Fed Cup teams.

It did not give reason for Prpic's resignation. Prpic headed the Croatian men for four years and the women for 11.

His resignation comes ahead of Croatia's Davis Cup series against Japan in the first round on Feb. 10-12, 2012.

Former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic is likely to captain the team in Japan, Croatian state TV reported.

Croatia won the Davis Cup in 2005 when Niki Pilic was captain.
