Ukraine's Olga Savchuk and Lesia Tsurenko saved two match points in the second set before beating Jarmila Groth and Anastasia Rodionova of Australia 0-6, 7-6 (3), 6-3 Sunday in the deciding doubles match of their Fed Cup World Group playoff.

The win leaves Ukraine in the elite eight-country World Group for next year, while Australia will play in the World Group II. It was the first time Australia hosted a Fed Cup match on clay.

The teams were level at 1-1 entering Sunday's final day of play at the Glen Iris Valley Recreation Club in suburban Melbourne. Groth put Australia ahead by beating Tsurenko 6-1, 6-3, but Savchuk leveled the playoff 2-2 when she beat Rodionova 7-6 (3), 7-6 (12).
