Wolverhampton Wanderers climbed out of the relegation zone with a 3-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.

Steven Fletcher scored either side of a goal from Adlene Guedioura to put Wolves in control before Peter Odemwingie pulled one back for West Brom from the penalty spot in the 55th minute.

Wolves are a place and a point above the drop zone, which is occupied by Blackpool, Wigan and West Ham. There are two matches remaining this season.

''Hopefully we can get the points we need now and stay up,'' Fletcher said.

West Brom is already assured of a second successive season in the top flight, but was pulled apart by Wolves.

Wolves started on the offensive and West Brom goalkeeper Scott Carson was forced to turn aside a free kick from Jamie O'Hara.

But Fletcher put Wolves ahead with his 10th goal of the season and his third in the last four games. Stephen Hunt's corner was flicked on by Guedioura inside the six-meter (yard) box and Fletcher applied the finishing touch.

Guedioura came close to doubling the lead when his free kick curled just over the bar.

It was no surprise when Wolves doubled their lead in the 27th with a goal similar in buildup to the opener.

Hunt's corner was headed back across goal by Fletcher and the unmarked Guedioura volleyed past the exposed Carson from close range.

The visitors were conceding a stream of free kicks and George Elokobi headed over the bar from O'Hara's ball across the box.

Wolves extended their lead two minutes into the second period after a mistake by Abdoulaye Meite. The West Brom defender looked to have covered a throughball from Kevin Foley.

But he allowed the ball to slip under his foot and left Fletcher with a clear run at goal and the forward kept his cool before clipping the ball past Carson into the corner of the net.

But after 54 minutes Odemwingie gave the Baggies a ray of hope from the penalty spot.

Guedioura brought down Thomas - getting booked for the offense - and Odemwingie planted the penalty kick into the corner of the net to claim his 15th goal of the campaign.
