Wolfsburg former captain Josue returns to Brazil

Wolfsburg midfielder Josue is returning to his Brazil homeland.

The Bundesliga club says it released the 33-year-old Josue from his contract so he could join Atletico Mineiro with immediate effect.

Josue was the captain of the Wolfsburg team that surprisingly won the Bundesliga title in 2009. He played 164 Bundesliga matches and scored two goals.

The Brazilian says he is ''sorry to leave Wolfsburg now, but this transfer is a great challenge for me that I want to take.''
