Wolfsburg chief confident De Bruyne will sign new contract
Wolfsburg's director of sport Klaus Allofs has warned clubs off trying to lure Kevin De Bruyne away from the Bundesliga club by saying the Belgian is not going anywhere.
De Bruyne was voted the Bundesliga's player of the year by his fellow professionals last season when he set a new league record for the number of assists, as well as going into double figures with his goals as Wolfsburg finished runners-up behind Bayern.
His performances caught the eye of Bayern and many other clubs throughout Europe, but the former Chelsea winger is staying in Wolfsburg, according to Allofs.
"Kevin's got a contract until 2019 so that's already a clear signal," Allofs told Sport1.de. "He's staying with us."
Rather than offloading the 24-year-old, the Wolves are keen to extend his stay with them.
"We've also said we're going to give his contract another look," added Allofs. "It's about rewarding Kevin financially for his extraordinary development.
"We want to ensure that the best players we have get the best wages, which is why we're going to put something to him and I think we'll be quick in finding an agreement.
"Of course I would like to see him stay here until at least 2019, but what happens in a year's time depends on Kevin's development, but also quite decisively from Wolfsburg.
"If we are able to repeat what we did this year, then there are not many reasons to leave Wolfsburg."
