We can escape drop - Watson
The Latics remain bottom of the table despite holding high-flying Tottenham to a goalless draw on home soil on Saturday. The point means Roberto Martinez's troops are two points behind fourth-from-bottom Blackpool with seven games remaining. Wigan have a tricky-looking trip to Chelsea on the horizon and Watson is not writing off their hopes of getting a result at Stamford Bridge. "We're confident we can get out of this," said Watson. "We just know we have to win games and it's down to us now and we feel we've got a chance at Chelsea." Watson was not content with just a point against Spurs, stating he felt the Lancashire side deserved more from the contest. "I think we deserved more from it," he added. "For the first 60 we were the better team. But a point is a point and every one helps." Watson added: "I don't think it has ever been this open. "Anyone who takes it for granted that they are safe could find themselves in big trouble after a couple of defeats. "Similarly if we can put together a couple of wins we'll find ourselves out of the bottom three. "There is a confidence in the squad we will survive."
