Velez Sarsfield climbed to fourth in the Argentinian Apertura standings on Saturday night thanks to a 3-1 triumph at Belgrano Cordoba.

First-half goals from Ivan Bella and Guillermo Franco put the visitors in control and, although Franco Vazquez briefly gave the hosts hope by halving the deficit in the 70th minute, substitute Ezequiel Rescaldani soon restored Velez's two-goal cushion.

Elsewhere, Independiente cruised past Olimpo 3-0 to move up to 12th.

Eduardo Tuzzio, Ivan Perez and Facundo Parra were the men on target, with Damian Musto's 70th-minute red card not helping the Olimpo cause.

Finally, Argentinos Juniors picked up their third win of the season, 1-0 at home to Godoy Cruz, to climb to 16th. Gustavo Oberman netted the game's only goal seven minutes before half-time.
