The forward scored five goals in 30 Premier League appearances for Blackpool after joining from Derby and particularly impressed during the first half of the campaign. He has a year remaining on his contract at Derby and is again expected to be allowed to leave Pride Park over the summer. Varney is unsure whether Blackpool will make a bid to re-sign him, but would not hesitate to link up with Ian Holloway's side in the future. "I spoke to the gaffer briefly after the final game against Manchester United and told him that if there was ever an opportunity to come back, I'd snap his hand off," said Varney in the Blackpool Gazette. "You never know in football. Even if there was a case of me coming back on loan, I'd definitely embrace that. "It is a place I know and if two clubs came in for me and a decision had to be made, I'd choose Blackpool straightaway."
