United States midfielder Fabian Johnson tears calf muscle
MOENCHENGLADBACH, Germany -- United States midfielder Fabian Johnson will likely miss several weeks of action after tearing a muscle in his right calf while training with Borussia Moenchengladbach.
The Bundesliga club says Johnson is out ''for the time being'' after getting injured on Sunday, one day after the side's 4-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund in its first league game of the season. Johnson played the full game.
The 27-year-old American recently played for the United States at the Gold Cup.
The U.S. has upcoming friendlies against Peru on Sept. 4 and Brazil on Sept. 8, before the 2017 Confederations Cup playoff against Mexico at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on Oct. 10.
