United must step up asking price to land Lewandowski, says agent

Robert Lewandowski's agent has warned Manchester United it would take in excess of $55 million to tempt Bayern Munich into selling the striker.

Having completed the signings of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin on Monday, United will now focus on strengthening in central defence and up front.

Lewandowski would be Louis van Gaal's preferred choice to replace Robin van Persie in the United squad, according to reports on Tuesday, but the Premier League club have been told they must dig deep to stand any chance of convincing Bayern to sell.

Lewandowski's agent Cezary Kucharski told Polish television: "I think it would have to be a very high offer, definitely higher than $55 million. Robert is one of the most valued strikers on the market who guarantees goals, guarantees assists, excitement. He has shown that over many years during his career.

"Every year he is an even better player and plays at a higher level and that is very important for other clubs because he has credibility and guarantees at least 30 goals a season."
