Man United and Chelsea are both reportedly weighing up bids for Gregory van der Wiel after the right-back confirmed he will be sold by PSG.

The Dutchman has been deemed surplus to requirements at the Parc des Princes this summer and is reportedly available for a fee of around £14million, with just a year left on his current contract.

United have been negotiating the sale of Angel Di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain and the while the £44.6million deal is expected to be rubberstamped any day now and have discussed the possibility of taking a couple of players from the French champions in exchange.

PSG are unwilling to let go of Brazilian forward Lucas Moura but are happy for Dutch defender Van der Wiel to join United, according to the Daily Mirror.

Louis van Gaal is now said to be weighing up a move for the 27-year-old, who he coached at international level.

Van der Wiel has just one year left on his current contract and would provide competition at right-back for Italian new boy Matteo Darmian.

The 41-cap Holland international revealed at the weekend that he is free to seek a transfer.

"I want to stay at PSG but the club wants me to go," he told Le Parisien. "Things are clear."

Van der Wiel made 38 appearances for PSG last season but the French capital club are happy for him to go with Serge Aurier and Marquinhos on their books.

Chelsea are also thought to be monitoring developments, with the champions not having a specialist right-back on their books. The Blues regularly employ center-half Branislav Ivanovic at right-back, while Cesar Azpilicueta was bought as a right-back, but has since become their first choice left-back.
