UEFA has rejected Sevilla's appeal to overturn its 1-0 defeat by Paris Saint-Germain in a Europa League match for the alleged false registration of the French club's goalkeeper Apoula Edel.
UEFA says its appeals panel dismissed Sevilla's protest and upheld an earlier ruling by its disciplinary body.
The Spanish club could make a final bid to win its case at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Sevilla lost 1-0 at home to PSG last month, then claimed Cameroon-born Edel was not eligible to play.
Edel's former agent made unproven allegations that he played in Armenia using false identity documents before moving to France.
French police have cleared Edel of wrongdoing.
