The U.S. soccer team has released Chivas USA forward Justin Braun and Dallas defender Ugo Ihemelu from its training camp ahead of an exhibition game against Chile because of injuries.

Braun will be sidelined for a week after needing four stitches to close a cut near his left Achilles' tendon, an injury sustained Tuesday.

Ihemelu has been slowed by hip and groin injuries and was let go after six days of training, the U.S. Soccer Federation said Wednesday.

The U.S. opens its 2011 schedule against Chile on Jan. 22 at Carson.
