Toulouse continued their excellent start to the Ligue 1 season after claiming a narrow 1-0 win over lowly Nancy on Saturday night.
Umut Bulut netted the only goal of the game midway through the second half as Toulouse recorded their fifth victory in eight matches this season, leaving them sitting pretty near the top of the standings.
Nancy, meanwhile, are still looking for their first win of the campaign and continue to prop up the table on four points.
It was the struggling visitors who had the first opportunity today, though, with Benjamin Moukandjo firing in a third-minute shot that Toulouse goalkeeper Ali Ahamada deflected for a corner.
Nothing came off that flag-kick however and Toulouse came close to taking the lead themselves in the 16th minute, Aymen Abdennour seeing his header from a Franck Tabanou corner cleared off the line by Samba Diakite after it had beaten Nancy custodian Damien Gregorini.
Gregorini was then called on to block Paulo Machado's volley in the 38th minute as Toulouse sought, without success, to find an opening before the break.
Nancy threatened again at the start of the second half when Daniel Niculae was set up by Moukandjo, but his volley with punched clear by Ahamada.
Two minutes after that let-off Toulouse went down the other end and netted the match-winning goal.
Tabanou did well down the left, showing good pace to escape the attentions of Helder, before sending in a cross which Bulut turned past Gregorini.
Toulouse came close to doubling their lead in the 72nd minute but Abdennou was again denied by some last-ditch defending, Thomas Mangani the man this time clearing off the line after the Toulouse defender's shot had beaten Gregorini.
With time running out, Nancy launched a late bid to snatch a share of the spoils and they almost managed it two minutes into injury time when substitute Jung Jo-Gook tried his luck, but his shot skimmed the outside of the post as Toulouse held on for the win.
