Tijuana goes top with Guadalajara win

Tijuana moved top of the Mexican Clausura with a 2-0 win at bottom side Guadalajara on Saturday.

Jose Sand scored a goal in each half for the visitors, who top the early standings on goal difference from Santos Laguna.

Santos Laguna left it late to beat Jaguares at home, with Aaron Galindo scoring the winner four minutes from time.

Cruz Azul are a point behind in third after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Pachuca.

Jaime Ayovi put the visitors ahead after 19 minutes, but Emanuel Villa ensured the points were shared with a 30th-minute equaliser.

Monterrey also had to come from a goal down to secure a 1-1 home draw with Unam Pumas, who took the lead on 26 minutes through Juan Carlos Cacho.

Othoniel Arce equalised for Monterrey just after the hour mark.

In the day's final game, Queretaro beat 10-man Atlas 2-1.

Isaac Romo (18) and Sergio Ponce (35) set up the win for Queretaro, while Atlas had Alonso Zamora sent off 10 minutes from time before Giancarlo Maldonado scored a last-minute consolation.

On Friday, Estudiantes Tecos moved off the foot of the table by claiming their first point of the season with a 1-1 draw at home to Club America.

Fredy Bareiro put the home side in front shortly before half-time, but Christian Benitez equalised for the visitors just two minutes into the second period.

The point was enough to move Club America up to second in the early standings, a point behind leaders San Luis who lost 2-0 at Morelia.

Jaime Lozano Espin opened the scoring after 10 minutes and Joao Rojas sealed
the win 18 minutes from time.
