Switzerland winger Valentin Stocker will miss the rest of qualifying for the 2012 European Championship after injuring his right knee while playing for FC Basel.
Basel says the 22-year-old Stocker had surgery Monday to repair a torn ACL and will be sidelined for seven months, also ruling him out of the under-21 European tournament in June.
Stocker was injured during league-leading Basel's 2-1 victory over Young Boys on Saturday.
He is the third Basel forward unavailable to play for Switzerland in the June 4 qualifier in England, after Alex Frei and Marco Streller retired from international football.
Stocker is also eligible for the Swiss under-21 team, which has qualified for the eight-team European event in Denmark.
