Swiss clubs FC Sion and Servette made coaching changes Tuesday after only eight matches of the season.
Sion replaced Sebastian Fournier, who stood aside after insulting players following a loss on Saturday, by hiring Michel Decastel. Last-place Servette fired Joao Alves, the Portuguese coach who led the club to promotion and a place in the Europa League.
Sion said it appointed Decastel until the end of the season for his second spell at the club. Decastel coached Sion in 1995-96, and spent most of the past decade with clubs in Morocco and Tunisia, including African champion Esperance.
Fournier had taken Sion top of the 10-team league before asking to return to his former job as head of Sion's training academy.
The former Switzerland defender acknowledged aiming offensive remarks at some players after a 3-0 loss to new league leader St. Gallen.
Sion's impressive start to the season was made with new recruits, including former Italy midfielder Gennaro Gattuso.
Alves paid the price for failing to win a league match, and being eliminated in the Europa League qualifying rounds.
Servette said it would announce its new coach early next week. The league does not play this weekend because of 2014 World Cup qualifying matches.
