Former Switzerland international Murat Yakin has been hired to coach the FC Lucerne team captained by his younger brother Hakan.
Lucerne says Yakin agreed a two-year contract to leave his job coaching FC Thun.
Yakin replaces Rolf Fringer who was fired last month when the team slumped to fifth in the league after leading at the midseason break.
Lucerne won its only league title in 1989.
The 36-year-old Yakin played 49 times for Switzerland including alongside his brother at the 2004 European Championship.
