Team news ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash between Sunderland and Aston Villa at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill has seen no new players join his injured list ahead of the game.

Defender Wes Brown, who is out with a long-term knee injury, has suffered a setback in his recovery which could see him ruled out for a few more weeks, and central defender Titus Bramble (hip flexor) still remains a doubt.

Sunderland lost 1-0 to Middlesbrough on Tuesday night in the Capital One Cup and O'Neill is likely to make several changes to his starting line-up, with goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, midfielder James McClean and winger Sebastian Larsson all set for possible returns.

Aston Villa left-back Joe Bennett will return from a one-match suspension following his sending-off against Norwich.

However, midfielder Karim El Ahmadi will have to serve a one-game ban after incurring his fifth booking of the season during the midweek Capital One Cup win at Swindon.

Villa central defender Chris Herd is a fitness doubt after being substituted with a knee injury at the County Ground.
