The 41-year-old was introduced as the successor to Gert Heerkes this afternoon, signing a two-year contract with the Tilburg club that also includes an option for a further year. Streppel joins from Helmond Sport, who lie third in the Eerste Division. That is likely to be where Willem find themselves next season, as they lie five points adrift of VVV-Venlo and the relegation play-offs. However, Streppel insists this is a promotion. "Although the club are likely to go down, I see Willem II as a step forward," he said. "It's a good club where there is the potential for something beautiful. "The ambition of myself and of the club is the same."
