Jonathan Walters scored in the 25th minute to lead Stoke City past FC Dallas 1-0 in a preseason friendly Saturday.

The combination that led to Walters' goal started after Kenwyne Jones tapped a pass to Erik Pieters from the top of the penalty circle. Pieters nudged a pass past Dallas defender Stephen Keel and to Walters.

Walters, who was standing just inside the top of the box, curled a right-footed shot into the back of the net from about 16 yards.

The match is the second of three games in the United States for the Potters; Stoke City lost to Houston 2-0 on Wednesday and will play Philadelphia on Tuesday.
