Southampton beats Palace with Rodriguez strike
LONDON (AP) ?Southampton's international players showed few signs of tiredness at Crystal Palace where Jay Rodriguez's strike ended a losing streak with a 1-0 win in the Premier League on Saturday.
?Seven of the starting Saints line-up at Selhurst Park were on international duty during the week, including Rodriguez for England's friendly against Denmark.
The 24-year-old Rodriguez brought the match to life in the 37th minute, latching onto a weak header by Jason Puncheon and then beating Julian Speroni in a 50-50 challenge to finish into an open goal.
Palace felt Dejan Lovren should have been dismissed for what appeared a last-man challenge on Yannick Bolasie after the interval.
Southampton ended a three-match losing streak in all competitions and denied Tony Pulis' side the chance to edge further from the drop zone.
