The Slovak football federation says Stanislav Griga and Michal Hipp have been named the new coaches of the country's national team.
Federation chairman Jan Kovacik called the decision announced Thursday ''an experiment.'' It is the first time Slovakia has appointed joint coaches.
The two replace Vladimir Weiss, whose contract was terminated in January following the team's failure to qualify for the 2012 European Championship. Hipp was Weiss' assistant coach.
The pair will lead the team in the 2014 World Cup qualifying and have contracts until December 2013.

Griga, a former Czechoslovakia striker, previously was in charge of several Czech and Slovak clubs, including Slovan Bratislava and Sparta Prague.
