Slovakia draws with Croatia in friendly
Croatia substitute Nikica Jelavic scored a second-half equalizer Wednesday in a 1-1 draw against Slovakia in a friendly.
Jelovic's header from inside the area in the 54th minute came from Ivan Rakitic's corner.
Miroslav Stoch gave Slovakia a 1-0 lead with a shot from the edge of the area in the 50th minute.
In another solo effort, Stoch's low attempt was saved by goalkeeper Vedran Runje in the first half.
Slovakia forward Robert Vittek, who scored four goals at the World Cup in South Africa, came on in the 68th minute but had to be substituted four minutes later due to an undisclosed injury.
He came close to scoring when Runje struggled to save his shot following a pass from Erik Jendrisek.
At the other end, substitute Eduardo da Silva's lob over Slovakia goalkeeper Jan Mucha just missed the target in the 64th.
Slovakia starts its 2012 European Championship qualifying campaign at home against Macedonia on Sept. 3. Croatia travels to Latvia.
