Padraig Amond scored a last-minute winner to secure a 1-0 victory for Accrington at home to Aldershot.

Romuald Boco's 18-yard shot was blocked and looped upwards, Shots goalkeeper Jamie Young fumbled the effort and Amond pounced in the in area to poke the ball home from close range for his fourth goal of the campaign. Andit got worse for the visitors when substitute Peter Vincenti was sent off for an off-the-ball incident involving Amond in injury time.

It had looked like it would peter out into a goalless draw until substitute Amond's late show. Accrington's Karl Sheppard, returning to the starting line-up, came close to opening the scoring in the fifth minute when he got through and held off his marker but his strike was saved one-handedly by Young.

Lee Molyneux's 13th-minute inswinging corner was cleared off the line by Shots midfielder Josh Payne while Watford loanee Matt Whichelow fired wide from a superb position after being put through by Boco. Aldershot had their first-half chances with top scorer Craig Reid not far off with a drive while the striker also had a header well-saved by keeper Ian Dunbavin.

Just after the break three-goal frontman Reid had a flying header again kept out by Dunbavin while, for Stanley, Reading loanee Sheppard connected with Craig Lindfield's cross but could only slide the effort into the arms of Young.

Sub Padraig Amond headed over in the latter stages, Young denied him at the near post in the final minute of the game but then a mistake gifted Accrington the points.
