The Seasiders announced the fixture on Tuesday, with boss Ian Holloway telling the club's official website: "This will be a real test for us, Bristol City were a decent side as we saw last season and under Steve Coppell, I full expect them to be challenging at the right end of the division. "I wanted the team to be tested and this will be a real test, it gets the lads back into the routine of preparing and travelling to fixtures and we will be treating it like it is a first team fxiture. "The surface will be immaculate and I am looking forward to it." Coppell told the City website: "We already had a series of fixtures arranged against League Two and League One sides and we needed to step things up for the final warm-up game. "Blackpool are now a Premier League club and I'm sure they will provide us with the kind of test we require a week before the season kicks off. "Ian Holloway has done a fantastic job up there and Blackpool's achievement in winning the play-offs has given every Championship club hope. They have shown what can be done when you believe in what you are doing and play attacking football. "But Blackpool will be good opposition for us and it's a game which should prove attractive to the supporters." Blackpool will also face Tiverton Town at Ladysmead on Friday July 16, in a testimonial for the Devon club's former manager Martyn Rogers.
