Sculli rescues point for Genoa at Lecce
Giuseppe Sculli's second goal rescued a 2-2 draw for Genoa after they had slipped behind at Lecce with just nine minutes remaining.
Sculli had opened the scoring in the 21st minute, a lead Genoa held until Luis Muriel levelled just after an hour's play.
Davide Brivio thought he had won it for Lecce when he netted in the 81st minute but Sculli was on hand to claim the draw with five minutes to play.
Lecce had the best of the opening exchanges, Muriel heading Gennaro Delvecchio's cross wide and then missing the target again from the edge of the area.
Juraj Kucka was closer with Genoa's first effort but also shot narrowly wide.
When the opener came, Sculli could scarcely do anything other than hit the target as he converted Bosko Jankovic's cross from point-blank range.
Lecce fashioned a couple of long-range opportunities as they attempted to respond before half-time but both fell to Juan Cuadrado, who could not draw a save from Sebastien Frey on either occasion.
Genoa settled quickly after the restart, Kucka testing Massimiliano Benassi twice in as many minutes with shots from outside the penalty area, while Sculli headed wide with a third chance.
Yet Lecce equalised against the run of play in the 61st minute, Muriel picking up Andrea Bertolacci's fine pass and finding the top left corner of the net.
Genoa continued to apply the pressure, with Jankovic and Rodrigo Palacio next to try their luck and Kakha Kaladze shooting tamely at Benassi in the 73rd minute.
Again, Lecce somehow absorbed the pressure and responded with a goal of their own.
Brivio was the scorer this time, firing home a free-kick with his left foot to make it 2-1 with nine minutes to go.
But just four minutes had passed when Sculli headed home Fernando Belluschi's corner to give Genoa a well-deserved point.
