Scotland picked English-born striker Jamie Mackie in its squad Thursday for European Championship qualifiers against Czech Republic and world champion Spain.

Coach Craig Levein called up the 25-year-old Queens Park Rangers forward in place of the dropped Kris Boyd.

Mackie was born in southern England but is eligible to represent Scotland because his grandfather was born there.

"He has been watched on four separate occasions and each report has been excellent," Levein said. "We have been looking high and low to add to the existing pool that we can pick from."
