Schweinsteiger backs Neuer move
Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has backed a move by his club for Schalke and Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
Schweinsteiger, who has just committed himself to a new contract with the Bavarians until 2016, says the arrival of Neuer would further strengthen the German champions and that he would relish the chance to play alongside another national team colleague.
"We don't have a problem in goal at the moment but with Manuel Neuer, we would have the opportunity to bring the best German goalkeeper to the club," he told Sport1 television.
"I am always in favour of FC Bayern having the best German players."
Bayern accounted for no fewer than eight of Germany's squad at the World Cup last summer and the arrival of Neuer would swell the ranks of national team players further.
However, he has yet to make up his mind about his future.
Neuer still has over a year left to run on his contract with the Royal Blues and said at the weekend that he "expects to be still playing for Schalke next season".
