Santander signs Greece midfielder Tziolis on loan

Spanish club Racing Santander has signed Greece midfielder Alexandros Tziolis on loan for the season.

The 26-year-old Tziolis joins from Serie A club Siena, where he played 13 games last season.

The former Panathinaikos and Werder Bremen player has been a regular for Greece since 2005 - playing at last summer's World Cup - and fills the role of defensive midfielder.

Santander opened the season with a 4-3 defeat at Valencia.
