MADRID (AP) Spanish football club Rayo Vallecano says its former president Jose Ruiz-Mateos has died. He was 84.
Ruiz-Mateos was a businessman who was president of the Madrid-based club from 1991-94.
A native of the southern city of Cadiz, Ruiz-Mateos became one of Spain's richest men and was famous for his colorful personality.
He owned several companies that were expropriated from him by the Spanish state in 1983 on charges of tax fraud.
