Former Brazil striker Renato Gaucho has resigned as Atletico Paranaense coach a day after a home loss kept the club in the Brazilian league's relegation zone.
Renato Gaucho made the announcement Thursday after a 1-0 loss to Atletico Mineiro in Curitiba.
He had taken over Atletico Paranaense in last place in the 20-team standings and led the club to four wins, five draws and five losses in 14 matches.
Wednesday's defeat left the club in second-to-last place with only 18 points from 20 matches.
The bottom four clubs will be relegated to the second division.
Renato Gaucho had quit Gremio in June after a series of disappointing results.
