Liverpool says Daniel Sturridge should be fit for the start of the next English Premier League season after a ''high ankle sprain'' on England duty last week.
The striker was carried off the pitch on a stretcher during last Wednesday's friendly against Ireland at Wembley Stadium.
Liverpool hasn't put a timeline on his recovery following a review by a specialist but hopes to have Sturridge available for its first league game on the weekend of Aug. 17-18.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will be desperate to have Sturridge fit because fellow striker Luis Suarez is suspended for the opening six games of the new campaign while he completes his ban for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic during a game at Anfield in April.
