PARIS (AP) Sevilla defender Adil Rami has been called up by France coach Didier Deschamps among his list of reserve players for the European Championship after Rapahel Varane picked up a thigh injury.
Varane, who plays for Real Madrid, picked up the injury at training with his club and is doubtful for the tournament starting June 10 in France.
The French soccer federation said that Rami will join his France teammates at the national training facility in Clairefontaine on Tuesday.
Rami has made 26 appearances with France but played his last match with the national team three years ago in a friendly against Brazil.
