PSV Eindhoven says striker Jonathan Reis will miss the rest of the season after tearing ligaments in his right knee.

The Brazilian forward collided heavily with Roda JC goalkeeper Przemyslaw Tyton in PSV's 3-1 victory on Sunday. Reis was carried off on a stretcher and an MRI scan revealed the extent of the injury.

Club doctor Tjaarda Weber said Monday the 21-year-old striker will undergo surgery before beginning a long rehabilitation.

The injury came in the same match Ibrahim Afellay made his last league appearance for the Dutch leader before transferring to Barcelona.
