Postecoglou quits after guiding Roar to 2nd title
The Brisbane Roar have named longtime assistant coach Rado Vidosic to replace Ange Postecoglou as the A-League team's head coach.
Postecoglou quit as Roar coach Tuesday after leading the club to back-to-back A-League titles. He didn't immediately indicate where he will coach in the future, although he has been linked to a vacancy at the Melbourne Victory.
Brisbane named Vidosic as new head coach Wednesday. Vidosic has been assistant coach at the Roar since the club's inception in 2005, and players and officials said they had complete confidence he could continue their success.
Postecoglou informed the Roar players of his decision to leave shortly before a parade in downtown Brisbane on Tuesday to celebrate their 2-1 victory over Perth in Sunday's A-League final.
Postecoglou took over as Roar coach from Frank Farina in 2009. The team finished next-to-last that season but has won both premierships since then.
''The last two years have been fantastic (and) it's a really exciting time in front of us,'' said Vidosic, who makes his coaching debut Tuesday when Brisbane travels to Tokyo in the Asian Champions League.
