Stoke went ahead on 23 minutes from a trademark Rory Delap long throw, which Mamade Sidebe flicked on for Tuncay to head in from eight yards out. Burnley hit back and Chris Eagles delivered a deep cross to Paterson at the back post in the 39th minute but the Northern Ireland striker didn't connect well and his shot went into the side-netting. But the Clarets did equalise on 52 minutes when Paterson delivered a superb cross from the right and Nugent was the first to react and left Thomas Sorensen stranded with a powerful header - his sixth goal for the club. Paterson then hit a rasping cross which Sorensen saved. And Eagles hit a superb 35-yard shot which Sorensen again stopped and the midfielder fired wide soon after. In the last minute Tyrone Mears cut the ball back to Eagles but he blazed over as the two sides shared the spoils. Burnley move up one place to 18th on 24 points, while Stoke stay 11th with 35 points.
