Terry Dodd was so close to pouring in his fourth goal of the afternoon he could already taste it.

The Horsham FC striker, on a hat trick and having just become the first player in his non-league side's history to score 30 goals in a season, rounded the opposing goalkeeper and found himself all alone with the empty net at his mercy. All he had to do was tap it in. Instead, he completely bottled it, hitting the side netting for a shocking miss.

Luckily, Dodd immediately grabbed a tasty, ice-cold beverage from a fan to drown his sorrows in:

Now that's how you keep your cool!

The beer most certainly kept flowing after Horsham’s 11-1 win over Hallisham, which clinched the prestigious Southern Combination League Premier Division title. Dodd’s brilliant blooper gained him some unexpected fame, to boot, with the video trending on Twitter in England and getting picked up by the national press.

"I just never expected it to get how it has. There are two things I am good at, missing open goals and drinking beer," Dodd later quipped to the West Sussex County Times. "It's made me an Internet sensation. It's quite nice and it gives Horsham a bit of publicity and name."

Just another tale for why English non-league football is the best.
