Newell's Old Boys stayed on top in Argentina's first division with a 4-0 victory on Sunday over struggling Boca Juniors.
Paulo Rinaldo Cruzado converted a penalty in the 6th minute and then Newell's scored three second-half goals in the space of five minutes: from Horacio Orzan, Martin Tonso and Maxi Urruti.
Newell's improved to 32 points in 15 matches. Boca has only 13 points in 15 matches, and is one spot off the bottom of the league standings.
River Plate took over second place with 29 points, defeating Atletico Rafaela 3-0.
Lionel Vangioni scored from long distance in the 8th minute, and six minutes later Rafaela defender Eduardo Dominguez scored an own-goal trying to stop a shot from Ariel Rojas. Juan Iturbe added a third in the 32nd.
San Martin dominated Lanus in a 3-1 win. Gaston Caprari gave San Martin a 1-0 lead in the 6th minute and, just when it looked like San Martin would make it 2-0, Lanus equalized on Fernando Barrientos' strike.
Damian Ledesma made it 2-1 in the 70th and and Claudio Riano made it 3-1 in the 89th with Lanus down to 10 men after goalkeeper Agustin Marchesin was sent off.
Lanus holds down third place with 28 points.
Racing's Sebastian Saja scored from the spot before Jose Luis Fernandez equalized for Godoy Cruz in their 1-1 draw.
Belgrano and Independiente draw 0-0 while on Friday, Colon defeated All Boys 2-0, and Velez Sarsfield won by the same score against Quilmes.
Union Santa Fe's relegation was confirmed on Monday after two late goals saw them go down 4-2 at fourth-placed San Lorenzo.
The visitors came into the game in wretched form having not won at home, nor won in any of their last eight matches and that run continued after two goals in the closing stages sealed their fate.
The visitors made the worst possible start when Gonzalo Veron put the home side two up inside the opening 15 minutes, before a brace before the break from Andres Franzoia pulled Santa Fe level.
However, Substitute Alan Ruiz put the home side back in front after 88 minutes before Franco Jara popped up in added time to secure the win and Santa Fe's demotion to B Nacional.
