Newcastle bounced back from a run of six defeats in seven games to beat Queens Park Rangers 1-0 in the Premier League Saturday and end Harry Redknapp's undefeated record as manager of the west London side.
Newcastle held a considerable edge in time of possession and its domination finally paid off in the 81st minute when Shola Ameobi turned in a Vurnon Anita ball from close range.
Redknapp took over the west London club in November after Mark Hughes was sacked and had guided the team to an unbeaten record of one win and three draws from his first four games in charge.
QPR remain in 19th place in the standings with 10 points while Newcastle move up to 14th with 20 points.
