South Africa named one striker Friday for the opening game of the World Cup against a Mexico team which had three attackers.

The lone forward was Katlego Mphela, who scored the winner in South Africa's final warmup victory over Denmark to take the team's unbeaten run to 12 games. He was in front of a five-man midfield.

Playing at its 14th World Cup, Mexico had Carlos Vela, Guillermo Franco and Giovani Dos Santos in attack in a 4-3-3 formation.
