Moyes steering clear of World Cup talent
The Toffees boss reiterated the World Cup was not a good market to buy from, insisting that players mostly punch above their weight, but it does offer the opportunity to see emerging young stars. Before the Blues' tour to Australia, Moyes spent time in South Africa as a TV and radio pundit, and used the time to rule over possible recruits at Goodison Park. He told the Liverpool Echo: "I don't think it's a market where anyone particularly buys from. "There have been a lot of players there who play in the Premier League and have maybe played better than they do in the league and others you've expected more from and it didn't happen. "Overall though I don't think it's a good place to buy from. What it does offer you is the chance to see the emerging talent. Players who have made their squads and are coming through." Moyes was coy regarding which young players he will be keeping tabs on ahead of the new Premier League campaign. "There were one or two young kids I liked and have been keeping an eye on."
