Moyes happy to bide time with Saha
Everton manager David Moyes has revealed he is in no rush to offer
Louis Saha a new contract, amid reports the Frenchman wants
£60,000 a week.
The Frenchman's current deal expires at the end of the season
which means he could now sign a pre-contract agreement with any
foreign club.
Both Bordeaux and Roma are thought to have expressed an
interest in the 31-year-old but the Toffees have yet to make a move
themselves as they are reportedly unhappy with his wage demands,
understood to be in the region of £60,000 a week.
Although Saha has weighed in with 12 goals already this
season, the injury problems which dogged his four-year spell at
Manchester United appear to have followed him to Merseyside.
He has made successive starts in just three games this season
and has not featured since Boxing Day's 1-1 draw at Sunderland.
Moyes admits contract talks are progressing but nothing has been
resolved as yet.
"There are things going on at the moment," said Moyes. "The
negotiations are ongoing with the chairman and Louis's
representatives. It doesn't need to be resolved right now because he
is under contract until the end of the season. There's no great
rush.
"If he went abroad he can sign a pre-contract but he can't in
this country. I don't see it being too big an issue."
